BLS INSTRUCTOR

This course is for those desiring to be Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructors thru the American Heart Association. The purpose of this course is not to teach BLS but HOW TO TEACH BLS. This is a ONE DAY OR  two day blended course.  T  There are certain things you need for this course. You will need to complete the  AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIALS course. The link is below. You will also need the AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR MANUAL 2020 edition. The cost to the AHA is $42.50. The link is below. IT'S BEST TO PURCHASE THE BLS INSTRUCTOR PACKAGE BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED THE COURSE VIDEOS TO TEACH THE CLASSES.

You also need a current AHA BLS PROVIDER CERTIFICATION CARD.

You will also need to complete the BLS Instructor exam at

Before AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR certification can be issued the student must successfully teach 2 classes teaching at least 2 modules in each class, AND  pass the written exam with at least 84%.  The modules covered in the class are listed below:

CHAIN OF SURVIVAL ( 6 PARTS)

HIGH QUALITY CPR (ADULT AND INFANT CONSCIOUS RESCUE)

TWO PROVIDER CPR RESUSCITATION

UNCONSCIOUS / DROWNING RESCUE

BVM BAG

ADVANCE AIRWAY

CHOKING

OPIOID OVERDOSE

HIGH-PERFORMANCE TEAM ROLES AND DYNAMICS

The AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION CARD IS VALID FOR TWO (2) YEARS.

Once you complete the AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR COURSE, you will be aligned with a national training center, ( LIFE COMPRESSIONS)  to enable your future purchase of AHA BLS PROVIDER CERTIFICATION CARDS. The cards are $5.50 each. There is also a $100 annual alignment fee to the training center. During the AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR training, an INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATE form will need to be completed  which includes the conditions of maintaining your AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION. ACLS AND  PALS INSTRUCTOR

AS WITH THE BLS INSTRUCTOR PROCESS, THE PROCESS TO BECOME AN ACLS INSTRUCTOR IS SIMILAR. YOU WILL NEED A CURRENT ACLS OR PALS PROVIDER CARD AND A CURRENT BLS PROVIDER CARD. YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE AHA INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIALS COURSE FOR THE INSTRUCTOR COURSE YOU ARE TAKING AND YOU WILL NEED THE INSTRUCTOR AND PROVIDER MANUALS.  IT IS BEST TO PURCHASE THE INSTRUCTOR PACKAGE WHICH CONTAINS THE COURSE VIDEOS AND MANUAL BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED THE COURSE VIDEOS FOR TEACHING THE CLASS.

You will receive the Instructor Candidate workbook through email which contains information on instructor processes and important links.
